Chairman's Letter

Dear Old Cottonian,

As we enter the last year of the millenium, let us look back to the achievements of the association. The Object of the OCA has been to maintain cordial relationship with the School and to keep all Ocs' in touch with each other. Over the last 2 years, I think we have achieved this objective. This is mainly due to the excellent support given by all the Managing Committee Members and you the members.

As this will be the last issue for the year I wish to place on record, some highlights of the OCA achievements.

  1. The financial position of the OCA has improved. The reserves have been increased by Rs. 1.30 Lacs which is a sizeable amount as the total reserve earlier was only 5.98 lacs. This has been achieved by prudent investments and judiciuos control over costs.
  2. The life membership of the OCA has gone up by 105 and the total now stands at 1056 life members
  3. I am pleased to state that interaction between the OCA & School continues to improve and for this the various initiatives taken by the principal Dr. Ebenezer are well appreciated.
  4. During the year a cricket match of OCs Vs School staff was held which ended in a tie !!
  5. An Old Cottonian Golf Tournament was held at the KGA Golf course followed by an enjoyable dinner at the Bangalore Golf Club. The number of OCs participating increased sizeably.
  6. A contributory meeting of the committee with families was held at "Tusker Trails" at the Bandipur National Park, where the group were lucky to see many wild animals including a king size wild elephant tusker at close quarters.
  7. A subscription Christmas lunch was organized by the Girls & Boys Associations to usher in the true spirit of Christmas.
  8. A farewell for the outgoing competent Principal of the girls' School - Mrs. Joseph was held by the OCA, at the Bangalore Club.
  9. A special group discount has been approved to the UK & back for Ocs' in the first week of September '99 to coincide with the UK get together of Cottonians. The fare was very attractive . For details please contact the Secretary- Mr Nikhil Tivary.
  10. The OCA has a scholorship amount of Rs. 30,000 for the year 98/99 which will be reimbursed during the year.
  11. The programme for the St. Peter'sTide 99 is given with this issue. I request , through this Newsletter, all Old Cottonians to please come and take part in the festivities and catch up with old friends and school teachers & Staff. The Social is being held on the 29 th at 8:00 PM at "Le-Meredien" Hotel and promises to be a great evening.
  12. This Newsletter is one of the new facilities we created. We welcome suggestions from Ocs all over to help us improve this news letter.

My sincere thanks to the energetic and very co-operative committee which has delivered such good results for the OCA in 98-99

Wishing you and your family all the very best till we meet again.

My special good wishes go to all the groups Boys & Girls all over the world

    Yours sincerely
